Early Music Long Island, or Emily, is a two-headed ensemble based in Nassau County that specializes in the outreach and performance of Early Music on the geographic Long Island area.
We are open to participation by any and all interested parties whether or not they have an historically appropriate instrument or not.

EMLI has held performances with the inclusion of music students, local professionals, dancers, and singers with an open mind and inclusion as its guiding forces.

COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA & PLAY-INS

The EMLI orchestra is community driven ensemble with rotating members, and local students. The instruments are healthy mixture of old and new, but the music is always from the Renaissance/Baroque eras and embraces the traditions of the time. Music is arranged from tablature, scores, and figured bass into a modern tangible lead sheet for any player.
The play-ins are a chance for new members and interested parties to play along with, and get to know other early music enthusiasts in the area. All instruments/arts are welcome. If you are interested in coming to a play in, please help yourself to some of the music provided on the ‘Score’ page. You can also drop a line to my e-mail, or the Early Music Long Island facebook page.

EMILY CHAMBER GROUP

Some core members of Emily do regular performances around Long Island (Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, Brooklyn) in a variety of venues. This group is comprised of the EMLI orchestra section leaders, Continuo, Viola da Gamba, Voice, Violin, in any combination or featuring guest artists.
If you are interested in hosting a concert, or being a part of the performing ensemble send an e-mail to me using the BOOKING link.

If you are a part of an Early Music Ensemble, or performance coming up; Please let us know and we will help to advertise your endeavors and build a stronger early music community.
